Odd monitor problem - L226WTQ

I've recently acquired this monitor (L226WTQ) and have been experiencing intermittent screen flashing..similar to when a net pop-up appears is the nearest analogy. Usually occurring every few minutes or so regardless I am playing a game, or on the net etc.
I've tried different DVI cables, different mains sockets, different graphics drivers and various settings but this problem still persists.
Any help would be appreciated.

could be a dodgy power connection inside to the backlight, however u would need to get that looked at by someone who knows what they are doin
