***Intel MOBO D975XBX BIG Problem*** Please Help
Hi all,
Thought i would pick your fault finding brains to help me figure out what he hell is wrong with my new Rig
I have
- Intel Desktop Board D975XBX
- Intel core 2 duo E6700
- Enermax 620W PSU
- Ge-Force 7900GTX
- 500 GB HDD
Problems I've got is that I've built it all and turn it on but just get the CPU Fan running at full speed and no display at all.
So i tried a new Graphics card and still the same, So thought it must be the MOBO or the CPU, So i tried re-seating the CPU fan, still no joy.... so tried the CPU in another PC and that works fine.
So you would think the Answer is = Dead MOBO :O_o1:
So i got it replaced and guess what is still doing the same thing.... :help: fan on MAX Speed!
Can some one in lighten me please coz I'm st-upped? :surrender:
Thanks all!

Re: ***Intel MOBO D975XBX BIG Problem*** Please Help
Have you got a PC case speaker hooked up? Any beeps or the like?
What about LED's on the motherboard are they all lit up exactly how the manual says they should be?
Re: ***Intel MOBO D975XBX BIG Problem*** Please Help
Check the simple things first:
Is the graphics card hooked up properly to the PSU?
Are the case-front connectors hooked up properly? (I once had a build that seemed dead because I'd connected the power LED to the reset connection.)
Any beeps from the speaker as Lucio suggested?
Is the RAM seated properly?
Re: ***Intel MOBO D975XBX BIG Problem*** Please Help
Try a different PSU, some have trouble supplying the voltage required to start the board. Ring Enermax and tell them the problem, and if they are aware fo a problem, they will sort an RMA out for you.

No beeps just FAN running at full speed.
Only time i got beep was when i turned on the power with out the 3D card power cable connected just to test.

3D card is connected to PSU
I've tried just having the power cable connected and all the rest disconnected.
Ram is fine have also tried connecting them in other ram slots.
:surprised:
Re: ***Intel MOBO D975XBX BIG Problem*** Please Help
I have even tried the support page... but no joy?
I have also tried both way of connecting the CPU power to the MOBO,
If i just have one connected the Fans will spin up for a 1 sec, if i have both connected then the Fans all stay on Max?
"2x2 or 2x4 Power Connector Not Plugged In"
If the power supply cable with the 2x2 connector or 2x4 connector (depending on your desktop board), is not plugged into the 12V processor
core voltage connector located near the processor socket, the system will not boot up. You will see lights onboard and on the chassis front panel
and the processor fan will spin, but nothing will appear on the monitor. See figures below for cable placement.

Re: ***Intel MOBO D975XBX BIG Problem*** Please Help
975 chipset is compatible so cant understand why a mobo with that chipset would not support the chip. Check for latest bios version, although without post I cant see how you would update it, unless you have a s775 pentium lying around that is.
Assuming it is compatible and the problem is elsewhere... reseat all your components, clear the CMOS, and boot with one stick of ram (in slot 1). Then go in and manually set the timings (assuming you get a post) before seating any other ram. As others have said though, could also be due to the PSU.
Re: ***Intel MOBO D975XBX BIG Problem*** Please Help
I'm typing this on a machine with an Intel D975XBX running a Core 2 Duo. The first releases of the board were not C2D compatible because of certain power requirements, but all boards sold since April last year have been. Take a look at your board and see if you can spot the revision number. C2D-compatible boards are rev 304 up.
Re: ***Intel MOBO D975XBX BIG Problem*** Please Help
Badaxe 2 should be c2d compatible
