Re: Incredibly slow boot up
I assume youve checked for spyware, stripped MSCONFIG startup and services etc?

Yep, I might try a diagnostic start up and if the problem still persists.
Re: Incredibly slow boot up
Looks a bit suspect to me, do a full virus, malware, spyware scan.

Same thing I had with my dieing Samsung HDD. It was working properly in other systems as secondary drive, but booted OS veeeeeery long. Tried to reinstal Windows on it - failed. Then HDD just died.

Yay, just what I needed to read. Its brand new. :angst: It however seems to be tied to a driver.
Re: Incredibly slow boot up
Exact same thing happened to me too with a dieng HDD, used to boot slow but no signs of fail so i reinstalled vista and then it gave me messages saying it was failing. Turned out it was a dieng HDD and got it replaced, alls fine now.
If its new dont worry. Run the WD diagnostics tool available from thier website (this can delete stuff so backup) and it should tell you, then RMA it, or just RMA it anyway.
---> Bear in mind it might not be the problem here...

Ok, I will do that, but what is the warranty on a OEM hard drive?
Re: Incredibly slow boot up
depends, i got mine from scan and i rma'ed about 9 weeks after
Re: Incredibly slow boot up
Well I ran the full test and it found nothing. I think a full reformat should do the trick if this is really related to a driver. After I finish Bioshock first.
