Recovering lost "copy" text
Two days ago I booked a flight and haven't yet recieved an e-mail confirming it which I usually get right away. After the booking was successful I copied and pasted the booking information into notepad but apparently it didn't save (or I didn't save it...).
I now have no booking number or way to find it so I can call them and ask. So my questions are:
1) I definitely copied the text and pasted it into notepad. Can you recover text that you copied even 2 days later? Is the information stored in some deep dark corner of my hdd?
2) If not, will the (secure) webpage still be available to view somehow? Would a copy have been made to my hdd by some automatic method? It's not available in the history, I guess because it was secure.
Thanks for any help,
Chris.

Some companys you can just log in and resend email or even view it online, which company was it.

If you've rebooted since then, which I guess you have by now, I don't think there's much chance of recovering it. As Lee points out, best bet is to get in touch with the company to have them resend it.
Re: Recovering lost "copy" text
The secure webpage, by nature of what it is, will probably not be there or will not contain the info you need.
Is it possible you saved the file to a random location under a random name? You could do an advanced search for files containing specific text (text that you know was originally in the confirmation) and see if that holds any hope. Or jsut phone the company and tell em who you are and what happened.

If you don't re-boot, log out or copy anything else, the clipboard won't clear itself. Whatever you copies is stores in a system variable in memory. It isn't written anywhere on your hard drive. Things on the clipboard will remain during a PC going to sleep or hibernation though.

Thanks all. I had turned the computer off since then so it must have been lost, however I rang up and they didn't need the booking number, just my name, so it's been sorted :)
