Xbox 360 on your computer?

Hi

Is there anyway of setting up an xbox 360 on your computer? So you could play xbox360 games from your computer, etc. Spending £170 on it and having 2 boxes doesn't appeal to me . All you would need is the disk drive and software, right?

I'm guessing it isn't possible, but worth a shot

no because you have to re-encode all of the games, or write an emulator, and it isn't legal..........................

why not just buy a cheapy 360 and encorperate it into your PC case?....

Could you not get a seperate disk drive and software and have a dual boot - Vista & then 360 software?

current day computers are just not powerful enough to emulate current gen consoles

the software has been coded to run perfectly on the hardware i n the 360... not other mis and match machines...

in the future... probably... but currently there isn't even a good PS2 emulator (that i know of) so next gen has no chance (apart from the wii)

But a 360 has 3 cores (IIRC), so the games are coded to run with that. It also has its own custom GPU, so I'm guessing thats why the emulators aren't out yet - My guess is you'd need a quad core minimum (so you have the required 3), but I really don't know much about this stuff

It depends what you mean by 'powerful', comparing different systems is a science in itself.

But no, you can't run 360 only games on a PC. Forget about it, its not going to happen

i meant powerful enough in the way that there are lots of different variations so software cannot be fully customised towork on a singular platform, whereas with a 360 you have all of the hardware with the software designed specifically for that certain hardware...

you normally need approx 4 times the processing power of the console to run the games properly...
such as the snes emulators that use alot more resources than the snes had available...

so as Agent says.... put simply-NO it's not possible until proccys are uber OTT in about 4-5years

It's not that PCs are less powerful, but that in order to play an actual console game (rather than a version written for the PC), it would have to fully emulate all the console hardware on top of running the game software on it. Current PCs are roughly of the same order of power as the 360 or PS3 but running an emulation of one piece of hardware on another is serious business. As pointed out above, there still isn't even a good PS2 emulator yet.

(And this is all assuming that Microsoft didn't sue the crap out of anyone who tried it).

I'm really hoping next gen xbox will not be that loud. Never used PS3, but the xbox360 is just a hair dryer

Lian-LI have a pc style case coming out for the 360. Much bigger, improved airflow, 120mm fan etc.

No idea when (soon allegedly) or at what price.

thing is unless your warranty has ran out then there isn't really any point in using that, as opening the original case up will invalidate he warranty...
