Unhappy AMD Athlon X2 3800+ Speed Problem

Hey Guys, Im new here. I've got a AMD X2 3800+ OC'in at 2.433GHZ ...... well its meant to be. In my computer and CPU-z its saying my computer is only 698mhz but in AMD Clock it says 2.433GHZ
And you migt be saying "oh well its not affecting much now is it" but acctully it is! All my games run Super fast and dont tell me to get the AMD Dual core optermizer or or windows hotfix ect because ive got them all! I fixed this once by removing the CPU Power plug inside the pc and repluging it after 5 secs, Hozarr it fixed everything, games and display info, the lot but if i do it now it dont work
So please if you can guys give me some
Cheers, The 1 and only angry Scotsman, Logan

No it should not this lowers CPU speed to allow the fan's to spin at a lower rate.

I would expect that CPU-Z is bugged and i doubt your CPU is running at such a low speed.
Try another program to monitor it, perhaps Everest.

PSU maybe? because you said unplugging and replugging CPU Power plug fixed the problem temporarily? Have you tried another PSU? That's probably where I start looking if I was you. Why your games run faster while your cpu is running much slower is beyond my understanding though.

Re: AMD Athlon X2 3800+ Speed Problem

    So lets get this straight:

Its shows at under 700 mghz in Windows and also in CPU-Z?

But AMD clock shows it as 2.4?

Re: AMD Athlon X2 3800+ Speed Problem

How much has this been upgraded from when you bought it?

CpuZ is showing your bus speed at 69.9mhz there's your problem.
Could be CpuZ not reading the motherboard info correctly. If so updateing the BIOS might fix it.

However as windows is also showing it at such low speeds I'm wondering if the motherbard has a problem. (mabe not getting enough power or has been damaged)

If you reset to stock speeds does it show the info correctly?

Re: AMD Athlon X2 3800+ Speed Problem

The stock fsb speed on that cpu is 200mhz

According to CpuZ the numbers are correct
69.9 x10 = 698.6 (the fsb speed is rounded up)

To get 2.433ghz then the FSB should be reading 243.3mhz
I'm not sure what the HTT thing is . . .

intresting post here on overclocking an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Windsor
put 3 volts to the cpu
    4 volts to the ram
    raise the fsb to 300
    drop HTT to 1x
3 volts over the cpu seem rather high

Looking at your numbers your htt is at x5 you need to drop that as it does not like going over 1000mhz apparently

For games issue you need to install Dual-Core Optimizer from AMD website.
