    Replacing Rio carbon hard drive

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but anyway, my friends rio carbon hard drive is making loud noises and failing through songs, so I said I look into replacing it (the hard drive) for him. Does anyone know if its a matter of just taking the old one out and replacing it with another CF type II card. If so, does anyone know where to get a decent 5gb+ one, as I could only find a 4gb one in scan?

Re: Replacing Rio carbon hard drive

don't know much about the Rio, but if the O/S is on the hard drive, you will need to copy that off it and then re-install it on the bnew drive. I know how its done on an Ipod - bit not on a Rio. (if it appears as a hard drive on your desk top machine, then the processes should be similiar. If the O/S is in flash memory or ROM, then swapping the disks should work.

Unless anyone on this forum has direct knowledge/experience of the Rio software, I suspect google will be your friend.
