Hiper PSU or DFI Nf4?

I have a problem with my soon to be server rig (buying new bits for my personal rig)

Anyway, A while ago a few symptoms started a while ago. I'd turn the PSU on and the Motherboard light would come on accordingly, but the computer just wouldn't turn on. Everything connected up okay.

If i left it on for a while then tried (using the switch directly on mobo) It would load up fine and run solid. It would only do it again if I left it unplugged from the mains for a while.

Taking computer to girlfriends house, Same problem but was easily fixed as it would randomly switch on okay.

Recently decided to swap out the awful DFI fan with a thermalright sli thing. At the same time i gave my system a complete strip down and rebuilt, dusted everything, fans, mobo, even the power supply.

Upon rebuilding i plugged everything together according and yes, you guessed it! same problem. Though the motherboard light was on so i though, meh! i'll try it in the morning. When i woke up the motherboard LED was off. the rear PSU led was on. Switching the PSU on and OFF made no difference. So either that PSU LED is no way an indication that the psu is working. Or the motherboard was on it's way out for a long time and has finally snuffed it?

it was the power supply. Tested a new seasonic in today. worked first time.

Beginning to really hate Hiper PSUs... How old was it by the way? I just want to know if suspicions are further confirmed regarding Hiper PSUs sucking majorly.

This sounds like another case of the cold boot problem. Its been discussed many times on the forums and its 99.9% the fault of the PSU in all cases. Have a search in the hardware section for more info

It was less than a year old. I removed the Warranty sticker too when i dusted the Inside of it.

My replacement from scan arrived today. Went for a seasonic 500 M12. This one will be going in my new pc in a short while.

Then my current system i'll be buying some 500 giggers for and Raid5 for a file server.

But now it mean's i'll have to buy a PSU for the fileserver. - Probably got with a slightly cheaper Corsair PSU.

Is there anyway to fix the Hiper PSU? bearing in my there is no warranty as the sticker is no more.
