usb cable stops xp loading
Hi all
have an 350W psu in an office tower which up to now has been fine today plugged a usb cable into it for a new printer and it refuses to load the o\s it will boot okay but hang at the o\s being loaded, pull the cable out and it boots fine
i was thinking the psu but would a usb cause this

It might be a power problem. Can you give us some system specs? Have you tried booting into windows and THEN plugging the cable in?

I dont know what casues this issue, but i know my pc wont even post with my iPod plugged in

Weird. Sounds like some kind of hardware interrupt problem to me. Maybe check what your IRQ settings are for USB in the BIOS, and see there aren't any conflicts?
Edit: thinking about this a bit harder, there are almost certainly going to be conflicts, as some devices share IRQs quite cleverly. Don't really know how you'd tell which one was the genuine conflict... assuming that this is the case at all.

Is thyere anything attached to the other end of the USB cable (you said it was a printer cable - but disn't say if it had the printer connected) If not then the cable is faulty - replace it.
Otherwise - what make of printer? Latest drivers for the OS? Will OS boot into safe mode?
