Hi guys,
Can anyone recommend a free tool to recover lost files off a CDROM?
I can see the files with ISO Buster but then you have to pay to actually recover them. I may end up having to do this but i just thought I'd ask you guys first.

Have you tried cleaning the CDROM with one of those CD cleaning products like Disk Doctor which I think grind the top layer off so that hopefully the CDROM can be read. We have 1 at work and have managed to revive a few CDs with it.

Toothpaste works well too. I think Steve B was extoling the virtues of this recently.
How are the files lost? If it is physical scratches, then the above suggestions are fine.
If the CD wasn't written correctly or similar, imgburn may help. Select read, and dump the image to an iso file. Use winrar to find the file inside you are looking for and it may work.
There is also the possability of CD rot on some CD-ROMs and CD-Rs.

why does everyone expect everything for free ? if the files are that important, surly a small donation to isobuster is not a big ask ?
Agreed. I was just giving some alternatives. The OP didn't specify what was wrong with the disk he was trying to recover from.Quote:
