Xbox 360 wrong power cord (?)

I have just got my nice new shiny Xbox 360 home only to be utterly perplexed by the power cord I got with it . I haven't seen anything like it in my life and it is even the wrong shape for the socket on the power breeze block..

I have logged a call with Xbox Customer Care and I get a new cord in 10 working days (bye bye Halo 3 launch) but I am curious to what is pictured above? BTW I live in the UK and please excuse my ignorance on power/electrical related things!

Looks like a euro type cable very strange, complain and get some games out of them.

It is the shape and the missing hole that gets me - it won't even fit! But the mains plug end is fine.

Looks like a faulty power cord - as you say, the earch connector is missing or at least moulded over. A gentle probe at the place where the earth connector should be might find it underneath, but if there is a new one coming... Meanwhile you can use any power lead with the a correct plug on it.

If it did not have that bit i`ve circled in red then a normal pc cable would fit i`m sure.

Re: Xbox 360 wrong power cord (?)

Unplugged my PC power cord in high spirits but then was thwarted by the bit circled in red.

Oh the simplest things....buy xbox 360...unpack xbox 360....plug in xbox 360. But no.

Have a euro lead which is the right shape so off to hunt a 'wrong way round' (from UK perspective) travel adapter tomorrow. Fun.

how bizzare - it's the PSU that's changed, since my 360 has a 2-pin kettle-plug-ish ole in it like yout power cord on the right

Take it back to where you bought it and they should just give a replacement straight away.

Re: Xbox 360 wrong power cord (?)

There are two different styles of PSU and it looks like they've mixed the cords up during packing. My Premium has the three pronged PSU with the extra notch, whilst my Elite PSU is the two pronged style.

Second that.. If you bought it from a shop, I'd take it straight back and get a replacement. Forget waiting for a new cable to come out.

Re: Xbox 360 wrong power cord (?)

Took it back to HMV where I got it and their other 360 Premiums are the same! Ended up with a 360 Pro and the correct power brick/cord combination. Added bonus of HDMI out aswell. Karma is restored
