What can I use a Scsi 3-10,000rpm 9.1g drive for?
Well I got a couple at the bootsale for £1, same as these:-

Anyway I have a few questions:-
1...I have an old scsi card with the old cable connections, so can you get a cable from the old card to the new type scsi 3 connection on the HD? Is there any point using an old card?
2...well if (1) checks out and I can get a cheap cable, now what to use one for with 9.1g ???????................erm I'm not sure if you can mix scsi with sata (250g in my computer)......but it would be great to have the OS boot up and page on a fast scsi and data etc on sata.

Yoiu will need something like this to control it. http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...ProductID=9450
You might find cheaper SCSI 3 controllers without the external interface if you do a Google search.
There is more information about this drive here http://www.fujitsu.com/global/suppor...3-catalog.html

Now that I know the controller I'm looking for, I might find it going for £1 at the next boot sale........:-)

I've got a 29160 SCSI controller lying around somewhere if you're interested, not too sure how much they are worth so have a look around and make me an offer.

If you can find a cheap controller they will be good to mirror RAID 1 for a system drive or on their own as a temporary file drive for a swap disk!
This might work but you need to do some research

Thanks.......but with my offer you wouldn't bother to walk to the post box.......it's just one of my hobbies on Sat mornings to spot bargains, anything from Thomas the tank engine trucks 10p ea to a Microsoft keyboard 50p.
At this stall was a box of computer parts...everything was 50p ea, so as well as the scsi disks bought four Agp cards (3 rage 128 and a matrox g200) and a 52 X cd player..the cd player works, but I haven't a motherboard with a working AGP slot........blew them all (well two M/Bs) when my AGP card went phut.

bargains :)
G200 is THE sharpest image quality from that era.
You'll always need a spare CD too :)
As for the SCSI stuff.....good drives. BUT while they're 10k jobs, they have the platter density of towns in the dessert......sparse and empty. So not as fast as a modern SATA drive, but worth having for a spare machine :) as a boot drive.
I still have some SCSi stuff....a 40mb/s controller, a Cd burner and an 18 gig 10k drive :)
Cos I cant let them go........

Matrox do seem to be good for images, my 2nd computer has only PCI working and the best PCI card I could find was an old Matrox mystique with about 4meg memory..............excellent, can't see any difference between it and my Radeon X1950, looking at photos.
