    sound problems - X-Fi

    Hello,

I just got a new soundcard, the Creative X-Fi Xstreme OEM. It's a regular PCI card, not PCI-E.

Anyway, I've been having troulbe with sound 'slow down' as if the computer is struggling. The slowdown is on MP3s playing through Winamp. Tried Media Player and it suffers too.

Happens when I have other apps open, notably Football Manager 2007. Problem is, my old soundcard didn't have this problem.

I've just put in the latest drivers (on Vista 32 bit btw) and no improvement.

Anyone got any experience of this or any ideas? Could it be an IRQ thing? should I try it in another PCI slot?

    it is yes.

I switched the card to another PCI slot and reset the Bios (disabling sound again) and all seems ok.

Hopefully it'll still be ok when I overclock again.
