    slow burning after 1 write

    i'm gonna smash my pooter

i've been having some weird problems lately

latest one is horrible burning speeds - the first disc will burn fine, but any after it only burn at 4x
when i restart the system another will burn at full speed then next 1 will be 4x..

    aaaaand

i'm currently watching an xvid and there is a ****load of activity coming from my HD, i pause it, and it stops. could there be something wrong along the way of buffers ? what would be the best tool to test my burner or HD ?

burner is SATA, same as HDs
all channels are on DMA mode 5

    burner is a Samsung/TSSTCorp CDDVDW SH-S203B

o and another 1..when i take a disc out after a burn i get like a 10s system lock up, same for when i put a new disc in..i've had this before with other systems when putting a disc in, but not for that long and never seen it when ejecting a disc

Try upgrading to a new burner.
Regarding your buffer problem, have you got decent RAM?
    Having more RAM can help.

Re: slow burning after 1 write

I've heard of problems with recent Samsung drives. there was a thread just last week about someones drive not liking any Dual Layer disks someone was using.

Have a look for the latest firmware for the drive, this may help a lot. Google for "SH-S203B firmware" and you should get somewhere. there also appears to be some discussion of this drive on CDFreaks, so that could be a good place to look.
