    USB CD ROM Partition help

wright well we one day we recievedc a free 512mb usb flash pen drive from our college and it stated that on this pen drive there will be the college manual and all stuff like that and we thought that we would just delete the items they have saved on there to get a bit more room because it takes up about 30mb.
so we recieve theese pen drives we popd them into our pc and then all this stuff keeps poping up everytime we insert it into a windows pc and the problem is that the usb flash drive is partioned into 2 types oen is FAT and the other is CDFS and the CDFS does not show up as a removable drive it pops up as a cd-rom drive and we cannot delte anything from the CDfs partion because it is wright protected, so we cannot delete theses college item that we dont want and our college has no idea how to remove these items aswell.

we have did alot of research like trying to remove that crappy partition:

    U3 techonology doesnt work.
cpanel -> disk management - doesnt work
delteing the item through CMD using various code - doesnt work
using diffrent tiypes of programs to remove lockd files or repartion things - doesnt work
trying to delte the files in safe mode - doesnt work
changing the state of the files from read only to write only - doesnt work

holding shift down when the usb is loading it stops the auto run but we dont want to be holding shift allday everyday we use these drives.
and disableing the drive doesnt work because we either want the space back or just totally delete the partion - anoying we still dont get the space back

We have our whole COLLEGE in need of help and thats over 10,000 people PLEASE HELP US

Re: USB CD ROM Partition help

CDfs is a file system for Linux systems that `exports' all tracks and boot images on a CD as normal files.
Try booting from a live CD of Knoppix or Ubuntu and use their disk manager.

Only thing i found while with a quick google, but to be honest is it worth it for 30mb?

Re: USB CD ROM Partition help

Yes is worth it because when we plugged in the USB flash drive it auto runs the FULL SCREEN flash image. so is pretty anooying that we have to press esc all the time and cross it.

Re: USB CD ROM Partition help

we cannot disable anything we cannot because it pops up as a CD-ROM drive so we cannot disable the CD-rom drive because they auto run by default!!!
Further more that is not our aim not disable it we want to either romove it totally from the usb flash drive so its a normal flash drive or delete the items from it!!

    thanks for fast replying
