    XP needs reactivating...

    Right...i'm a bit confused here...

On Startup, when i got to the login screen, i got a message saying something to the effects of: Due to recent Hardware changes, you now must re-activate your copy of windows.

This is a bit odd...as the last time I changed anything to do with my hardware was in May/June...

Has anyone had anything like this before?

And yes... my copy of XP is genuine

    Thanks

I had it happen when i changed a setting in the bios once !! I did the activate over the internet thing and re-activated rather than phoning them as it seemed easiest at the time !

My friends computer athon xp2600 NF2 is somewhat similar the slightest change and it asks to
be reactivated. for example disabling the mobos network card.

Yet my old P3 I can take stuff out move it around and its fine. I think its the same with my C2D
    computer too.

    very odd

Installed any new software that installs a driver?
Copy protection stuff is a favourite for this. Its been known to kick the activation thing
