Moving partition in WinXPPro
My Sony Vaio Laptop has the following disk configuration in Disk Management: 5.01GB EISA config, of which 66% is USED, 13.97 (C:) of which 94% is USED, and 55.55GB (D:) of which 10% is USED. Nearly all programs default to (C:) and although all will allow me to browse, few ill accept (D:). Most of programs on (C:) are part of the package---like DVD software, ATI, MS Office. I need more room on (C;) because I end up uninstalling programs like my Canon Camera or my All-in-One so I can install VB2005. I want to move the partition to make C: larger and D: smaller. I am so stupid i don't even know what the EISA config drive is and i don't want to know unless it is involved. I was told that moving the partition is possible on XP Pro but some tech said i would have to do a reinstall of Windows to complete the task. I doesn't sound reasonable...and i have reinstalled Windows before and it is a royal pain and takes days. My computer is used for business and I hate to take chances. Microsoft is useless as a support vehicle. Just send me to a website and I'll be happy.

Hi Joshwa,
Thanks for your help. I am forever grateful that your services are free considering how the U S Dollar is becoming worthless when compared to Pounds Sterling. My son is in grad school at the University of Edinburgh and every 1.00 dollars he saved is now worth 0 .47pounds. I hope you will appreciate the humor: I told him to get a job in a pub and earn a few pounds since his dollars will soon be worthless. He told me that the pubs in Edinburgh open at 10 AM and close at 3AM---and that it is not the custom to tip in the UK. So I guess if I go to visit him, the one thing I will be able to afford is gin.
Thanks again,
JD
