    3rd Party Universal Input Software

Is there any software that will allow user defined controls to be assigned to things like extra mouse buttons (mine has 5 extras) and controller buttons?
Hard to tie down to a search term.

    Thanks for your time.

This may do what you want.

AutoHotkey is a free, open-source utility for Windows. With it, you can:

Automate almost anything by sending keystrokes and mouse clicks. You can write a mouse or keyboard macro by hand or use the macro recorder.

Create hotkeys for keyboard, joystick, and mouse. Virtually any key, button, or combination can become a hotkey.
