Question Technodunce in need of help with her printer!

    Hi everyone

I'm afraid I am a pretty basic PC user, and I came across your forum whilst looking for help with my printer. I hope it's not too cheeky of me to ask your advice on something!

I have an Epson Stylus D92 (I know Epsons are rubbish - it was free, okay?!)

I like to do double-sided printing (save the environment, and all that) but every single time I print I have to go into the printer properties and select double-sided printing.

Does anyone know how I can customise my settings so that it does double-sided printing by default?

Sorry if it's really obvious, I'm not very good with these things.

    Thanks so much!

Go to Start Menu > Settings > Printers.

Then right click on your printer and select "Printing Preferences".

You'll then be presented with the same options you get when you set double-sided printing the usual way. Do the same here, and select double-sided printing then OK it.

Your printer will now print double-sided by default and would need to be set to single-sided printing manually.

Note this is based on you using Windows XP with classic style start menus. The instructions would be very much the same for other versions of windows only to get the list of printers you might have to click on "Printers and Faxes" or some such.

Hope that helps and welcome to Hexus.

Thats what the forum is for

    Goto Start -> Control Panel
    Double click printers and faxes
Right click your printer, then go to properties
Change the settings that you want (duplex printing for example)
    Click, apply and then ok

Then do the same again (Right click your printer, then select properties)
The settings should have saved this way. If you just change them when printing, it won't store them for next time. Doing it this way changes the default profile that your printer uses.

You should see a button called "Printing preferences" near the bottom, you can go into this and save the profile (make a new one with an appropriate name), and save it. This way you can quickly recall it should you need to (in case it gets deleted or something).

That should do it, if not let us know

    Thank you so much, people

I had no idea it would make a difference accessing the preferences directly from the control panel. That seems to have done the trick!

    With heaps of gratitude
