Hi all,
Am on a home PC and am trying to access the Control Panel, it's not listed under the start menu, or Explorer. I tried adding a folder for Control Panel by naming a folder Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} and when trying to open it I get the following message:
"This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."
Now, there's only one user on this PC, and the user is HP_Administrator (which I know was the computer's Admin when it was bought), I've checked and I can't see any other users.
Just had a quick look under the registry and I can see a key called "don't load" under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Control Panel with the data speech.cpl, it looks out of place as all other keys are capitalised (like "Cpl", "Cursors" and "Extended Properties").
Am running AVG and Ad-Aware as we speak. Any ideas what could cause the Administrator to lose Admin functionality and of course how to get it back?
Allen
