    Angry New PC not booting

just build a PC with the following:

    Striker Extreme
    Q6600
    8gb OCZ gold
    4x1tb WD
    Gainward 8800Ultra
    2x SATA DVDs
    OCZ 850 PSU

All connected up fine (using both the 4+20 asus socket AND the extra 4pin ATX

Powered up - Blue Leds light + Power + Reset + CMOS. also the LCD display shows CPU INIT. NO fans spin (CPU, CASE nor GPU)

Is it because the CPU is too new and I need to flash the baord? if so will I need an old C2D? (dunno what version bios I have)

Do I have enough Power? (850w should be plenty I thought?) or have I completely buggered something?

Could be a faulty PSU mate, Have you another you can try? Is the CPU seated properly? All connections correct (Power switch the right way around / polarity).

Try pushing the light button on the back panel, its supposed to be on the out position if I remember correct.
Have you tried it with only one stick of ram?

    Re: New PC not booting

Saw an article on the ASUS site saing that the blue LEDS use standby power which means the board wont boot with them on.

    (2 stupid questions!)

1, can I flash the BIOS without a CPU on board?
2, there was a black bit of meshed plastic with the Antec P182, what is it and where does it go? (no mentions of bodily orifices please )

    1: No idea, never tried
2: On the top, over the fan. You must have seen pictures before you bought it?

    Re: New PC not booting

Have you tried booting it with minimal ram installed, as 8gb could be your problem if 1 of the sticks has a fault. Also check the mb accepts 2gb sticks in each slot as i know mine wont for example.
