Will these work together?
When it comes to spending money I get as paranoid and worried as can be! Essentially I'm upgrading my computer and I want to make sure all of these things will work together:
The motherboard -
Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK
The CPU -

The RAM (I'm getting 4gb) -

I have 1 IDE hard drive going in plus this one -

I've got a huge 800w power supply already and an nvidia 7600 pci express graphics card as well. I know this card is a bit naff but it was given to me for free and will do until I get enough money together for a much better 1!
Just wanted to make sure I'm not making a big mistake or I have forgotten anything? I've got dvd drives and a case etc, I'm upgrading the core components...
Re: Will these work together?
All should be fine with those parts.
Re: Will these work together?
Ok, I was wondering if this graphics card would work with the components listed above? Apologies if I'm being the ultimate noob but I just don't want to buy something that won't work!!! It's the memory type that makes me think that they won't work together - as the graphics card is ddr3 and the motherboard is ddr2?

Re: Will these work together?
Also, the graphics card I mentioned supports HDCP however, if I use a motherboard which doesn't, does that mean I will not be able to watch hd dvds etc?
Re: Will these work together?
The graphics processor uses its own memory on the graphics board, and is independent of the main system mem ory on the motherboard, therefore the fact that one is DDR3 and the other DDR2 is of no consequence.
Similarly the Graphics processor will deal with the graphics data stream that the mobo presents to it. Whether it is High Definition content or not is irrelevant to the mobo, provided the drive can read the data and the mobo databus has sufficient capacity (which the one specified should cope easily) there should be no problem. However if you are still concerned, confirm that with the supplier (Scan) then you have some comeback if you find they don't work as you expect.
But I don't think you would have any problems with the hardware you have specified.
Re: Will these work together?
Whats the make of the "huge 800w power supply"?
If its a cheap make then I would recommend getting a decent named brand like Corsair, Tagan, Seasonic etc. :)
Re: Will these work together?
I can't remember what exact model it was but I'm pretty sure it was a thermaltake... It cost £85 excluding delivery so I'm hoping it's a good one! I bought it last year because I'd bought a new agp graphics card that was too much for the psu I had at the time and this one has done me proud!
Re: Will these work together?
might be best to check with manufacturers website for any compatibility issues.
should be fine, but it wouldn't take long just to double check eh?

Just check it has the required connectors for our new graphics car, as i know some need 2 pci ecpress power connections.
