Problem with Xbox 360 and Samsung TFT

Hi all, I had already posted this in the gaming section but nobody seems interested there so I apologise if this is a bit off topic. Hopefully someone might be able to help me anyhow! Here's my problem...

    -------------------------------------------
This is one annoying problem. I ordered a Joytech VGA Cable which has arrived today. How all giddy I became! But there is a problem!

When I connect the cable to the X360 and into my monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 930bf), I don't get an image. I get sound which is through an optical cable into my speakers, but I get no image.

Oh, wait. I have just got an image in 640x480... ah its gone again. In 640x480 I get an image, but it keeps cutting out as though it is losing signal and then regaining signal. Now VGA mode works with my monitor as that is what I'm using at the minute to test. I don't know if anyone else has heard of any problems like this? I tried ringing Samsung and they said:

"Well it's either a problem with the cable or a problem with the monitor."

Joytech couldn't really help me but they said they are going to "investigate" it. If any of you guys can help me I'd really appreciate it!

Btw, when I try selecting other resolutions from the X360 menu (when I can see the list), they don't work. Selecting 1280x1024 just gives me an awful image with everything off the screen as though the signal is out of range!

    Thanks in advance, James.
    -------------------------------------------

I have since had it connected to my mates Beko 15" TFT and it worked perfectly! Any ideas? Cheers.

Whats the max res of the monitor?

Ill have the official X360 vga cable that i use with my dell 2005fpw for 720p HD goodness.

Ill have a play around with the resolutions when i get a moment and see what happens.

Tested and my TFT shows a picture on all resolutions.

Try the cable on a different monitor and see the outcome. Does the joytech cable have a HD switch like the component cable does?

Hi guys thanks for your suggestions. Yeah I tested the VGA cable on my friends TFT and it works fine so it must be my monitor which is strange? Samsung 19" 4ms TFT, not exactly the worst one lol.

Apparently it works with the official VGA cable but havn't had chance to test that, is it possible for anyone to confirm that?

    Cheers again!

well i found out that the samsung 930bf has a switch on the front panel to switch between dvi and vga so all i had to do was switch it over to vga to get the 360 display up so maybe there is one on the phillips 150b6

Re: Problem with Xbox 360 and Samsung TFT

    Just to make it clear:

I found out that the Samsung 930BF is NOT compatible with the Joytech VGA cable for the Xbox 360. I'm not sure how other unofficial cables compare - but the OFFICIAL cable works 100% fine.

Hope this helps a few people seeing as there are 2,000 views of this thread.
