    XP Color

On various applications on XP many icons seem to be discolored and generally strange looking, and many web pages I struggle to view, many media player buttons are white rather than blue. Sorry for being so vague but I don't know another way of explaining it.

Are your gfx card drivers installed correctly?

This is only my second rig so its only has onboard graphics, I don't think these need drivers, do they? The chipset is nVidia TNT2

Search out the proper drivers for the motherboard gfx and install them then report back.

    Re: XP Color

To install new nVidia drivers for TNT2 says to disable anti virus, I got them of the nVidia website and when the installation reaches 3% it says that it has not passed the windows logo test thing, carry on?

Yes. You may get a warning that system files have changed, just cancel that as well (as long as you're sure the drivers came directly from nVidia).

Check your cables, it may be that one of the pins isn't making proper contact.

Maybe the monitor is on the blink? Could you possibly test the monitor using another pc to see if it looks the same?

    Re: XP Color

In the Nvidia control panel did you take alook at the Digital Vibrance setting? Try chaning this around abit and see if it looks any better. There are a few other settings in there that could maybe make it look better too.

If you have a spare gfx card, disable the onboard gfx and try that.

    Re: XP Color

This may not apply to you, but I know that with some window blinds skins, I get odd coloured buttons ect.. in some programs, and sometimes other random stuff like parts of open windows having black backgrounds. the only thing that solves this for me is unloading window blinds and restarting it.
I assume that any other skinning program may have similar issues with XP, so it may be worth while seeing if you get any problems with XP's Luna theme turned off (go for the windows classic look)
In any case, going back to the classic look restarting the computer then re applying the Luna theme, won't do any harm, and may sort out your problems.
