    Re: Nvidia Raid 0 help

I would strongly advise against it personally. I had mobo RAID-0 and hardware (network attached) RAID-5, and I still wouldn't recommend it. The hassle when it goes wrong just isn't worth the very slight increase (if any) in performance it gives you.

    Re: Nvidia Raid 0 help

I have an assortment of RAID array's using both nvidia and silicon image controllers, not sure I will be able to help, but if you want to detail the problem, I can try...

Exclamation Re: Nvidia Raid 0 help

Hi, thanks for the response. Here are the details of my problem.
Just built a new system - AMD dual core, MSI M/B, 4GB ram,Win XP pro 32. I thought I would just pop in my existing Raid 0 discs (2 x WD 200GB). Unfortunately they would not boot! Did a fresh install on a new disc to check the system & it was fine. Unfortunately I (stupid) did not back up my Raid 0 discs. I now cannot access them even in the old system (AMD64, MSI M/B, 2GB ram) I've tried everything- XP recovery console keeps asking for a floppy I have not got? It won't run from my cd as the info says? I have run a free raid data recovery program & the data is still there but I cannot get it to boot. On a windows re install it shows no previous installation. I can see the discs in disc manager, if I put them on another system, but not in my computer? I was getting a boot message ' checking DMI pool Data' & no more. I now have another message after this - 'ntdlr is missing'. Obviously I have done something to block the boot system. If you can't help me can you suggest some software or a reasonably priced company - I'm not a business or rich! The data is mainly personal stuff & family pics etc. I'm a bit dubious about buying expensive software in case it does not solve the problem. If I use the data recovery images how easy is it to convert them to data I can see?
    Thanx.

    Re: Nvidia Raid 0 help

    Right,

You need some software that can re-build the RAID-0 array in 'software' within windows, i *think* that Active Undelete can do it, but you have to get the right version - i ended up paying £20 for the one that *didnt* do RAID-arrays and i was suitably annoyed...

ah according to this you need the 'Enterprise' one @ $99

    Re: Nvidia Raid 0 help

invest in larger disks if your raiding for capacity, or don't use raid 0 at all, more so on a fake raid controller.

you'll benifit in the long run. Streetster seems to have the technical solution though

    Re: Nvidia Raid 0 help

I posted a longish comment about a similar problem here

    http://forums.hexus.net/help-technic...d-0-array.html

with a couple of links - one to some software that claims to be able to rebuild arrays, and one to a data recovery company I was about to use, and which another Hexus user had successfully used.

    Re: Nvidia Raid 0 help

Hi, thanx for all the replies. Can someone tell me what you do with a virtual drive image once you have made it? Can you convert it to a disc? Can you access information like it was a disc?
