Crossfire Vs SLI new PC help

Just a quick question really i am currently working with scan to build a cobra system but waiting on some hardware to come out like the QX9770 but anyway basically i am not sure wether or not to get:

4x ATI 3870 in Crossfire X
or
3x of the Geforce 9 series (when the board to support 3 and 9 series come out ofc)

Thing is i am not sure on what the game suppport is like for the ATI Crossfire. Atm i use 2x 7950GX2's but not all games support SLI so sometimes i have to just use one of the cards, is that what it is like for ATI or not because i read alot of info telling me diff things so any advice and i would be thankful.

I will put the specs of the PC i am looking at getting, see if anyone has any suggestions

QX9650 or QX9770
4GB of DDR2/DDR3 (any input on best kind would be great)
Motherboard depends on graphics setup
2x SSD Drives Raid-0
500GB drive for storage
Asus Xonar D2 sound card (thought i might give it ago heard some good things)

This is a long term project i am doing with a guy at Scan.co.uk over the next few months as i am aware some of this stuff is not out yet.

4x ATI 3870 in xfire i think i read today of a lot of games not supporting xfire,crysis for one,3 x 9 series bloody hell if the 9 series is any thing like the 8 then that will rock.
