    E6750 and IP35-E

I'm running a C2D E6750, an IP35-E, 2 gigs of Geil ram and a 7600GT VGA. Everything appears to be working fine but I've still got a few problems.

The clock speed of the processor is 2.66GHZ but mine is running at 2GHZ. The multiplyer seems to be stuck on 6x and even when I change it in BIOS CPU-Z keeps telling me its on 6.

Another thing. I first booted up the system with 3 gigs of RAM. 2 matching pairs, 2x1gb Geil and 2x512mb Generic. For some reson it will not boot with the 512's in at the same time as the Geil's. Any idea why?

And ... Double boot up at the start. Anyway to stop this?

    Any help much aprreciated.

    Re: E6750 and IP35-E

This could be auto throttling of the processor when idle (x6 multiplyer)

Keep CPU-Z open, try and zip a big file (100Mb +) and see if it reverts to x8 while you're busy. Suspect it will and there's nothing wrong. Make sure you set it back to Auto in BIOS.

RAM is a funny thing. Mixing different types and trying to run in dual channel is probably the issue here. Revert to 2Gb and if necessary buy an identical 2Gb kil of Geil to go with your current 2Gb sticks (you'll only get 3Gb if you're in XP 32bit /vista 32bit) but with RAM prices so cheap it's not worth the hassle trying to get generic to work.

Double boot-up seems to happen when you first build a system, once you stop messing in BIOS everytime and just run normally it should stop doing this. If you've done heavy editing in BIOS I'd advise you go in and revert back to default for the time being still you have it working perfectly. Remove the generic RAM!!!

    Re: E6750 and IP35-E

The double boot is a feature of the Intel Chipset. New Abit BIOSs cure the issue unless power to the PC is interrupted or you make a BIOS setting change.

    Re: E6750 and IP35-E

This sounds similar to a problem I had.
I think you have to disable C1E/EIST in the BIOS so you can set your multiplier as it should be so CPU-Z gives correct info.

    Re: E6750 and IP35-E

check the abit forum for the lastest beta BIOS.

also, do you get the slow boot up when you load optimised defaults, but it boots quick with the fail safe defaults?
