Unhappy Safe Mode on P5K & IE7 install

    Hi,
Does anyone know why when I press F8 (P5K-E WiFi) I don't get Safe Mode, but only a boot option menu. Could it be due to anything being disabled, as in Clunk's great C2D o/c guide?

I'm trying to get IE7 installed, it failed at finalizing, probably due to a WGA issue.
I was wondering if there was a simple way to install a fresh download, maybe via safe mode?

    Thanks,
    Marmot

    1) Erm, it's supposed to come up with a boot menu when you press F8? Isn't safe mode one of the options?

    2) I'm not going to comment other than to say all the WGA validation is done at the start of the installation and it's been stripped from the IE7 install for a month or so now anyway.

Re: Safe Mode on P5K & IE7 install

Maybe I didn't explain that too well. F8 should give you a whole list of boot options, Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking etc.
What I get is, 2 choices of booting from the hard drive details it gives (my single drive) or another source to boot from. I've never had this happen on any other system, so I'm a bit stumped.
Secondly, my copy of XP is brand new, paid for and official. Any helpful information would therefore be useful in solving the problem. I only joined this forum today, because it seemed to have some helpful, knowledgeable people.

Needed to clarify, but regardless of legality issues, it was helpful anyway... I said it wasn't WGA causing the problem as it's been stripped out of the IE7 install package for a month or so. If you're using an executable IE7 from a more than a month or so back, download it again. If it still fails, then it's not WGA causing the issue (not that it will be anyway if it's failing towards the end of the install).
