Re: Problems after installing Toshiba HD-DVD Drive

I have done the reinstall of powerdvd and the hd-dvd works in small screen mode but struggles badly when full screen mode is enabled. I think it is a case of the HD2400XT just cannot manage running HD movies at that resolution. Which goes against ATI's marketing for the card, but what can you expect from a £40 card with a 64-bit memory interface! Will probably get the HD3870 XT soon, as it is so cheap for the performance.

Does it work without hardware acceleration?

I have read many reports of serious issues with the 2400 series but not the 2600 series, so yeah, you could be right.

As SiM says, what about with no dxva?

    Brasco, a 3870 sound a lot better.

When are you getting it Richard?

Re: Problems after installing Toshiba HD-DVD Drive

Well the 3870 is out for now. Decided to use driver cleaner to remove all traces of ati drivers on my pc and installed ati catalyst 7.10. The hd movies now run super smooth now! So will be keeping the HD2400 XT for now ...

Thanks for all your posts. Much appreciated.

    P.S. Hi abbi (aka Serpens)!
