Unable to detect my SATA HDD
Unable to detect my SATA harddisk. How? HDD is running. everything is connected. izzit because i didn't install a SATA driver?. how can i install a SATA driver? with a floppy? i have no other harddisk with OS in it therefore i cannot install it through windows xp. someone please show me the process of making it workable..
Re: Unable to detect my SATA HDD
As you go to install XP hit F6 when prompted to add additional storage devices. You will need the drivers on a floppy. In vista it can be done from another CD thankfully.
Re: Unable to detect my SATA HDD
Where can i get the driver? the driver i found is more than 1.44mb.. i'm using MSI 865PE Neo2 mb.. can help me find the driver? sorry for the trouble.. true my mb sux.. i'm buying new soon.. just want to get this old crap fix...
Re: Unable to detect my SATA HDD
you also may have a Drive Operation in the bios change that to Legacy alows the install then change it back
Re: Unable to detect my SATA HDD
sorry totalyrandom.. i dun really get what u mean.
Re: Unable to detect my SATA HDD
What drive is it? Probably the quickest way to diagnose this is to download something like the Western Digital Lifeguard Data tools / Diagnostics from their site - its free and comes with easy to use wizards that help you troubleshoot issues etc. You shouldnt need a drive to see the sata drive unless you are doing raid? Windows should be able to deal with that.
Re: Unable to detect my SATA HDD
what is the best thing i should do now? i can't detect my sata HDD. My mb do support that and have a BIOS for sata.. Why it's not plug and play? this is getting me more confusing with different ways of solving the problem.. what is raid btw.. sorry if i ask noob question.. i really have no idea what is it.
Re: Unable to detect my SATA HDD
Oh sorry to confuse. RAID is a method of seting up hard disks in a way that provides an increase in speed or data redundancy. Do not worry...if you don't know what it is I doubt you use it. So you say the BIOS does not even detect the hard disk? I take it you are allowing the machine to boot up with the disk connected from the start?
Re: Unable to detect my SATA HDD
yeap.. i didn't install any driver before connecting the hdd.
Re: Unable to detect my SATA HDD
As I said, try downloading some drive tools and run diagnostics? Really, you need to be seeing the drive int he BIOS though before anything else or it really wont work.
Re: Unable to detect my SATA HDD
Check in your BIOS, make sure the SATA controllers not running in either RAID or native mode, set it to legacy or emulation and see if the install finds the disk.
