    Help.please

    Hey all

    I have a Gateway MT3107b laptop.

I installed XP as i didnt like Vista, but now I cant find the drivers for the on board ethernet. I know it might be a long shot but i was wondering if anyone could link me to the drivers please?

I have looked everywhere, I have even emailed Gateway themselves but not had any reply from them.

    Thanks in advance.

Do you know what make of network adapter you're using? Right click My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager >> Network Adapters.

I assume it'll be a realtek one and you can get drivers for their stuff here: Realtek

Cant use Device Manager to find out what make something is, if it isnt installed, just says Ethernet Controller then the yellow symbol you get when things arent up to date or have problems.

    Re: Help.please

I won't recommend any, as I'm not sure they're legal (and I can't recommend one anyway as I don't use them), but do a search for a proxy server.

    Re: Help.please

Looking at the Gateway site it seems you have a Marvell 88E8088 NIC. Having a look on the Marvell site suggests that they provide one Windows driver package that should ciover a multitude of sins. Given that Gateway don't include your model in their tech support pages (what's up with that?) I'd say it's probably worth a whirl.

    Re: Help.please

I was going offer to download it for you and email it to you (I think that would have got aroung the blocker), but at 22.1 MB I don't think my provider allows attachments over 5mb (I can't find the size limit for yahoo).

I'm preparred to try it on goolemail, as the limit is 20mb, we might get away with it.

If you wish to do this PM me your email address, I'll be on the pc for the next hour and a half.

    Re: Help.please

Just tried with googlemail, after ages, a popup appeared to tell me the attachment contained an .exe file, for security reasons they don't allow these to be sent.

    Going to try yahoo now.

    Re: Help.please

Can you not upload it? Rapidshape / Megaupload? Unless they are blocked too?

    Re: Help.please

Good call Rishi, yahoo said no (10MB limit) am uploading it to Rapidshare now. Though it may present the same problem of not being able to bypass the uni blocker.

FAO DG, when I have the link I'll pm you.

No, the file was already in the .zip format, when I tried sending it using googlemail it spent around 10-15 minutes saying it was "still working", then gave me a popup to say that the file contained an .exe file and that for reasons of security, these files are not permitted.

Then I tried yahoo, which I now know has a 10gb limit.
