Aaaaarg! Dell low profile case issues.

    Hi all.

I'm trying to fit a full size radeon 2600 Pro into a mates Dell Dimersion C521. As the card has 2 DVI ports & a Svideo out, it physically won't fit into the case, it doesn't matter if I use a low profile bracket or not. I'd have to remove the standard size bracket and saw some of the case away.

So, the next plan was to move the components over to a new PC case. Sound in theory apart from what I've just discovered. Dell don't fit their motherboards on the right hand side, like a normal case, they go on the left. This means that if you try and fit the motherboard into a regular case the PCI slots & the I/O ports are back to front!

So, I'm hoping that someone here can recommend me a regular width case, but is like a Dell in that it has the mothboard screws on the left, not the right. Ideally with a 400w+ PSU inside.

    Thanks!

That Dell is probably using a BTX setup.

To my knowledge most of the Dell motherboards use non-standard fittings so you will have a hard time trying to find a case that will fit. You might as well make yourself a new case, or simplier, buy another graphics card that is low-profile.

There are some BTX compatable cases out there, but sometimes your best bet is to pick up a second hand Dell case from Ebay because it will make the fitting process easier.

Yeah, I think I might do the ebay thing.

I can't get a different card, is the Pc is going to become a HTPC. He needs 2 outs from the graphics card, and something like the 2600 which has full HD acceleration.

    Thanks for the tips.
