Explorer.exe crash?

Hi, im running on vista ultimate...32 bit edition!
I have 4 gig of ram(corsair xms2) but can only utilise 3.2gb of it.
I have a 150Gb raptor hard drive for windows along with a 750GB for storage.
Xfx 768Mb 8800GTX ULTRA graphics card.
Abit IP35-pro mobo.

Sometimes i put a timer on my computer for it to shutdown and 70% of the time works perfectly fine.

But sometimes, when the timer is on(not under any load) or if i leavy my computer on for a long time, i get an explorer.exe application error any as you would expect, nothing works and everything is just frozen.

Sople to scan about the problem and i was advised to run memtest but after a 10hour test, no errors were found.

This still happens after the 3'rd install of vista so i relli dont kno what to do!!

The ram usage is fine. 32Bit OS can only address 4Gb of ram, and those addresses have to also include all the other hardware in the machine that needs memory addresses (eg sound card, NICs, GPU etc).

If you have done a fresh install of the machine a few times then we can rule out spyware/viruses...assuming you reformatted the drive between attempts.

So that can leave a PSU issue, if it is slightly unstable then it can cause these issues.

Otherwise its going to be a driver of some sort. You may want to consider updating all drivers.

Failing that its a software conflict, so try to keep as many things off the machine as possible while you test it for stability. Slowly build it up with one thing per day. When it starts crashing then you know what the issue is
