overclocking asus p5n32-e sli plus q6600 b3/7
Hi,
This is my first post so I hope its in the right place. I am new to overclocking and am finding it fascinating. I have read the beginner guides on this site and others and have managed to get a stable overclock to 2.889GHz simply by turning up the FSB with everything else on auto and the ram unlinked running at DDR2 800. Upping the voltages to Vcore 1.425, mem 2.1, NB 1.5, CPUvtt 1.5, SB 1.6 gave me a stable 2.943GHz. At this speed core temp reads 58 degrees for each core. beyond these speeds and voltages I have had a few BSOD. My ambition was to get to 3.0 gHz Anyone have any ideas how I might get that last few gHz.
cheers

I have the same motherboard and processor, even same stepping and thats the most I was able to do. Going any further always resulted in either it freezing during post or BS in Vista 64bit. If I find anything though I will be sure to post it here on what I needed to do. What memory do you have by the way? I bought Corsair XMS2, 8 gig total.

Hi,
I've done a little more research now and it appears that we are not alone in being unable to get this board to 3GHz. I have similar memory to you only 2*1GB and using XP Pro. I have subsequently found the 2.93 overclock unstable during prolonged game play. Its OK to get a 3DMark score (15500) but hangs after about 4-5 hours game play. I've turned mine back a few notches now for stablity.
cheers and happy new year
