    Help with 5V Rail

My friend bought one of those Asus C2D board which use 5V rail to power the CPU.
The Antec EA430 he bought had difficulty getting the board to start becaue of the low 17A rating.
That system is meant to be running as a server so he need enough power to run at least 10 HDDs.

Is there any easy way to mod some sort of power cable that convert 12V to 5V for the HDDs only, as the system refuse to boot with >2 HDDs at the moment.

Buying new PSU is really not an option, but would like to know if there are alternatives before buying a new board

    Re: Help with 5V Rail

Is this for an actual server, or just a PC pretending to be a server (i.e. office vs. home)?

If it's an actual server, i'd junk either the board or the PSU and get something that will work without hacking about.

    But thats just me

    Re: Help with 5V Rail

    Motherboard is Asus P5K-VM

Searched a bit into the problem
    Newegg.com - ASUS P5K-VM LGA 775 Intel G33 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
Seems to get a lot of negative review also having the same problem.

Dumping the board is probably the best option :S
