cant get my self-build to boot.

I bought the components from scan to build a new PC in November and have tried everything to get it to boot but it wont beep on and I get nothing through the monitor. Gigabyte and scan technical support are useless, scan just told me to return the motherboard, cpu and memory to them and gave me an RMA (which is £15 with slowest post office tarrif). Scan obviously dont have a clue what is wrong and for all I know the RMAs could be perfectly functioning and I will get charged god knows how much by them . I really dont know what to do now.

What are the specs?

Try these first.

Try just one stick of RAM (each stick, one at a time in every slot)

Build it outside of the case with the motherboard on a bit of cardboard to eliminate electical shorts.

Do you get a motherboard Light on?

I've tried all that so many times its unreal.Yes I've built it in and out of the case and the led does come on.

what sort of ram are you using? Is it a matched pair or 2 sticks of one brand and two sticks of another?

I had exactly the same problem with the IP-35E, but taking out one of the unmatched paires solved the problem.

Sound like either a dead mobo or PSU to me.
They are the first places i would go.

1 stick of 1GB MicronMajor, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800), 240 Pins, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 5 . Which according to a rather vague PDF on Gigabytes website is a supported brand at that clockspeed and
size.

The PSU works in another computer aswell as another computers PSU doesnt work with this new-build, so.......

I tested the voltages with a multimeter and it is given in excess of the stated voltages in the manual.

So another computers psu doesnt work at all with it? In that case its a dead mobo

Yup, I'll second the dead mobo verdict, I've had exactly the same symptoms recently and that turned out to be the cause.

I have had a ton of Gigabyte dead motherboards in the last few months (4 out of 6 were dead in some way). I would be INCREDIBLY surprised if it WASN'T the motherboard.
