I don’t know if this applies to nvidia cards, but with ati ones, if you don’t connect the power pci e connector you get a big message on your monitor saying 'please connect pci e cable (or something along those lines, I cannot remember exactly).

this is it, so this is not enough to power my
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
BFG 8800 GT 512mb O/C
4GB(2 x 2GB) Memory
500GB HDD SATA
P5N32-E SLI PLUS Motherboard?
would have choosen a different case if i knew PSU was useless, still i'll be relieved knowing its only the PSU if that truely is the problem.

I have
mobo + cpu + heatsink + 2 sticks of memory + 2 HDD's + graphic card + Two 120mm fans + one 250mm fan on side
and it all turns on, just nothing comes to the screen
I also took it all out today and just turned it on with all but - one HDD and fans but still it doesnt start

I don’t think it’s your psu that’s causing problem. The specs you have posted are different from the ones blitzen posted up. The specs of your psu are quite good but good specs don’t necessarily mean a good psu, so I still recommend you go out and buy a better one.
Anyhow do you get any beeps when you take out only the gfx card but leave everything else in?
My opinion is:
Even though the PSU may not be at fault (even though i think it is), its still a bad one and i wouldnt use it.
Its up to you though at the end of the day but i cant see why you would buy a high end GPU, a high end CPU and a decent mobo and RAM and run it with a sub £20 ($33.99) PSU.
You are asking for trouble.
Now im confused....///
That is a completely different PSU to the one you mentioned earlier.
Newegg stock the one you spoke of in the opening post and the specs were very different.
IF those specs were true then it would be plenty for you system.
I doubt they are though.
No it wouldn't - the 600W rating refers to the combined power output on all the rails. Rating the 12V rail at 24 amps gice 288 Watts. The remainder is split between the various other rails, most of which will be split between the the 5V and 3.3V outputs, as the PSU label says. However I doubt that the PSU is capable of supplying the rated current on all the rails simultaneously, and that is wherte the ratings are dubious! I suspect that the quoted currents are individual maximums for each rail.
That aside, and regardless of the 'cheap and nastiness' of the PSU, I'm not convinced that changing the PSU will solve the problem - however it is a good place to start. But before that I would again check all the power connectors are in place and the the graphics card is seated. It might also be worth trying a low end graphics card if you can borrow one) to test that by substitution (or try the graphics card in another system)

Ok well i guess ill be looking for a new PSU, but i will be taking everything down to a local shop so they can find any faults, all connectors are in properly and gfx card is seated right so im hoping they can test all parts against another system to see if there are any problems.
That is the one i mentioned, the model is at the top of the label, the specs that were found looks like it was a different model, well i will be getting whole system tested today.
I found a PSU which looks alright and is good price but you guys will proberly be better at telling if it ok for my system specs. here it is Click Here, i can now get it for $77.99 with promo.

The PSU you're linking to isn't great, but is definately better than what you've got. I wonder though, for $69.99 you can get a Corsair VX450 which is a good quality popular PSU, it should run your system but will be approaching the 75-85% useage which over time isn't ideal.
Still, if you can find more cash to spend, do so!

I stated that the usually wattage was not stated on the PSU...only the maximum.
He can be safe in the knowledge they wont fry....isnt that good enough for starters?
BTW Streetstar...is see your PSU is an'Ultra'
Is that an Ultra X-Connect by any chance? If so then your rig isnt that safe either. They are one of the dodgiest PSU's ever made besides Deer and have a HUGE habit of wrecking entire systems.

I'd imagine that's the point he screams!
Seriously though, solving an issue of a PC not starting when it's never been working in the first place is unfortunately an incremental check. You have to simply proceed logically through issues from all the leads being plugged in (many users forget the 4/8 pin lead for example), then onto things like RAM voltage / part incomptabilities and then onto trying to find which item has failed.
Sometimes you can get lucky and post on a forum and someone tells you something you didn't know before, other times it's just trial and error!
