    3DMark05 Scores on new setup.

    Hello guys.

I had my new PC and I ran 3DMARK05, I don't know anyone else with a similar setup than me so can some one please tell me if these 3dmark05 scores are right for my pc?

    E4600 @ 2.40GHz
    2GB DDR2 RAM
    X1950 PRO 512MB AGP

I got 10180 points in 3dmark05. I've only managed to try one game yet (Trackmania Nations) and I didn't notice much more of an FPS difference than my old P4. (My old P4 got 6K Marks in 3DMARK05)

Do some games need to support dual core CPU's in order to get full performance out of a C2D?

    Thanks in advance.

EDIT --- This might sound silly, but do you need to enable dual core in the bios?

You would need to reinstall windows if you've replaced your P4 chip with the C2D chip in the same motherboard, otherwise you wouldn't neccesarily see the results inside Windows (for example Task Manager would only show a single core)

Maybe you were just hoping for too much.

You are using the smallest C2D chip with an AGP card remember. The results are never going to be astonishing tbh

    get iit overclocked.

    in 3dmark 06 my 2140, 4gb, ip35 and 3850 went from high 7000's to over 10,000 by going from 1.8ghz to 2.7ghz (changeing the fsb from 200 to 300)

Re: 3DMark05 Scores on new setup.

That score for 3Dmark05 isn't too surprising with your hardware. Have you looked at comparisons between similar setups to yours? An overclock always helps.

3Dmark06 is more heavily cpu dependent. I found this out when benching my new 8800gts 512mb. I was surprised at a score of 8000 but after research found it's not surprising considering I'm running a opty 146 @3ghz. Still plays everything I want at 1680x1050 maxed so I'll still wait for the new intel chips

That was the first bench I've done in ages simply because I can't be bothered with the willy waving (or dissapointment) it creates. It'd better to bench in real world apps. The other thing to remember is that if it works, does everything you want of it then you'll be happier simply using and enjoying it rather than trying to squeeze extra 3Dmark points.

I'd like to see a screen shot of that one.
10K+ seems very high for that set-up.

Re: 3DMark05 Scores on new setup.

Try comparing to others with the ORB.
It looks pretty much spot on to me. 3DMark assesses your CPU as well as GPU but your GPU speed obviously has much more bearing on your gaming fps. If you had a 1950pro before your upgrade then I wouldn't expect much of an fps increase.

OCing your CPU further will give more 3DMark score but I don't see it increasing your gaming fps by much.

Re: 3DMark05 Scores on new setup.

Hey Guys Could You Help Me

I ve got a question. I have just purchased via EBay a used older Acer Aspire 1350 AMD Athlon 2600+ 512mb ram, 30 Gb, Wifi enabled laptop just for internet purposes, video, skype etc. It has an integrated graphic card VIA KM400, max. 64 MB system memory usage. I found a review which tested the 3d capability and 3DMARK 2001 score was 965, I know it is ridiculously low comparing to new laptops, but sometimes I play games, like rogue squadron, copmmandos 2, desperado, and I am wondering if it is enough for games like Jedi Knight 1, Mafia or I am very naive and it is not even eligible for these games with acceptable performance. It is already posted, just ask...My job involves a lot of free time, however I am enclosed in a private hospital for 2 weeks, so some enterntainment would help me not to get crazy
