Cool Regular system crashes and freezes

    hi,
My system crashes regularly but i cant figure out why this is happening.I had problem with my 1gb 2900pro drivers i sold the card and installed a fresh copy of windows xp pro.Now i am using an ati 9200 pro pci temporarily;but still having system crashes or freezes. This is really frustrating.
    My system specs are:
    Antec quattro 850w
    Asus p5k-e wifi
    1 x 2gb corsair xms pc2-8500
    Q6600 go slacr @2.4ghz (zalman cnps 9700nt)
    3 x 500gb hitachi sata
    Antec 900
The crash happens usually when playing games, watching movies or songs.I think the problem is with the psu or the Hdd.Pls share ur thoughts.thx in advance.

Download and run memtest86+ as a first step to check that there are no memory problems.

Check you are using tyhe latest drivers for the graphics card.

If you are overclocking, reset to standard settings.

If you suspect the PSU the only realistic way to check it out is by substitution.

You could get Core Temp and see if you're cpu is overheating... it could be that the heat sink isn't on quite right.

What voltage is the memory set to? If your mobo defaults to something like 1.8v it could be too low...?

Re: Regular system crashes and freezes

I don't think it actually says there (if I'm reading it right), I was talking about the voltage setting in the BIOS, it's fairly normal for it to default to 1.8v but some (most) higher spec memory needs to run at around 2.1v. In fact if you read off the timings table, your RAM requires 2.1v to run at 533Mhz.

It should be fairly easy to get to on a P5K (Not that I'm guaranteeing that's the root of your problems).
