IP35 E problems

I was just wondering if anyoen else who has an ABIT IP35-E motherboard was having problems with it? Every time I turn my computer on it will power up for about 5 seconds and then turn off and then back on again. Also, everyday it will completely lock up at around about the same time. The one IDE hard drive I have keeps powering up and down again and the computer will freeze during the boot sequence if I have an external hard drive plugged into a usb port.

I've read various sites mentioning similar problems but supposedly updating the bios by flashing it fixes these issues?

I was wondering if anyone knew if this was the case, and if there was a slightly less dramatic way of fixing the issues as I'm not exactly an expert and I know there is an element of risk involved with flashing the bios.

The on off boot problem is normal for that mobo, iirc the latest bios fixes this.
As for the lock ups, not sure, tried a different hard drive?

The "double boot" issue is part of the boot process - think of it as a feature rather than a problem. They all do it. If it really is completely annoying you then the bios update is the only way to solve it (and that only works if you don't completely turn off the power between boots), but the issue isn't going to cause any problems elsewhere.

As for the lockup issues, is it a problem with just a particular drive?

Ok, so long as the double boot thing isn't because I have configured my machine incorrectly then that's ok :-D

With regard to the locking up, it was a program which was malfunctioning but due to a new release the bug has gone!

Double boot isnt good for HD lifespan. The new bios DOES fix this. Have a Google for Anandtech thread on IP35E with $70 Best Buy. The guy seems to have sussed this board completely.
