    Internet Stops Responding?

    Hello,

Been experiencing this problem only recently..

Everytime i use torrent software the internet seems to cut out, if it's open i won't be able to browse the internet at the same time and even if i'm to quit uTorrent it still doesn't let me browse the internet.

To resolve the problem at the moment i've got to restart the PC and the router.

OS is Vista Ultimate, Router is BT HomeHub adn i'm connected wirelessly..

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Thanks,

    Iain.

    Re: Internet Stops Responding?

Some ISP's use traffic restricting when it detects that its users are downloading torrents, not heard of any that actually cut the service totally though.

Do a search for the BT Homehub and you will find many who have problems with it, and are only able to slove these by buying a new router (lynksis, netgear, etc.).

Sorry can't be of much help, but I suspect that it is the BT router that is causing the problems you are experiencing.

I get that since I switched over to BT though I'm connected using wires. I just assumed that it's the Homehub being a bag of crap.

From what I have read, you assume correctly.

Check your "System" event log for connection limit errors from the "tcpip" service.

Apparently this is a fix, but the link is to a forum that you need to register, and I haven't tried it myself, so caveat viator.

Try limiting connections in uTorrent, that's the usual cause (tends to make some routers cack themselves)
