Strange Character for Bullet Point

Hi guys and gals,

just wondering if any of you know how to restore the original bullet point symbol in internet browser windows etc. It should be round, but it appears as a 'y' instead as displayed in the screenshot below:

I wasn't specific because it applies to every browser I use including Internet Explorer 7.0 and Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.12.

Well that is significant because it indicates that the problem probably doesn't lie within the browser configuration, but in the character mapping or code page. Have you checked the localization settings in control panel?

Certainly, that was one of the first things I tried.

And what else have you tried?

Getting information out of you is like pulling hen's teeth - it really helps if you say exactly what the problem is (which you have)

- how it manifests itself (which you have done - partially) - but does it hapen in other application?

- if you have Word (or any other WP package) installed, does it happen with bullet points in Word, - and with different font sets? (probably - but pays to check.

- and what steps you have taken to fix it so far -

it saves me or other people who may try to help you from making suggestions only to be told "I've done that" .

Few people on the forums are mindreaders...

However since it seems to have appeared when yopu installed a new grapphics card, I would go the control panel or configuration file file for the card and see if there are any localisation setting there that may need to change.

And you might mention what the settings are...when you have lookeed.

Surely a screen shot is enough to describe (in this case, along with the other information I provided, what exactly the problem is).

What have I tried? Checking the localisation settings, reinstalling Internet Explorer 7.0.

It manifests itself in Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox and any other application which uses the browser framework, such as Windows Problem Solver (as pictured in the screenshot above).

I have Microsoft Office Premium 2007 installed, the problem does not occur in Word when I use bullet points.

Installed a new graphics card? Certainly not, I recently added watercooling to the graphics card but have not replaced the card.
