Re: Playing Large VOB Files
tried burning them to dvd and playing them that way/
Re: Playing Large VOB Files
something odd is going on already if the files are 4 gig - that should never be the case with dvd
perhaps someone copied the files off a disc without removing the css protection?

Since the vobs are >2gb, nero won't let me re-burn it is a video dvd i have to create a dvd udf. In doing so the files are rendered useless as sound no longer works.

Re: Playing Large VOB Files
Sounds like a corrupt codec, lack of memory maybe? Have you tried them on a different PC? Maybe the files are corrupt?
Bit of an odd one...
Re: Playing Large VOB Files
i highly doubt its a memory problem as i have 2gb on board. Although i do suspect it is a corrupt file, ut sice this is happening to all the vobs i have above the standard dvd resolution i think its a codec problem, just having a tough time finding the riight codec.
Re: Playing Large VOB Files
.vob files can be just about any size, but the DVD spec calls for them to be 1GB or less.
I would suspect they have been merged together when copied off a DVD.
have a look at some of the tools on Doom9.net - The Definitive DVD Backup Resource as opposed to just trying to play then, have a look to see if anything will analyse them report any problems back to you.
Re: Playing Large VOB Files
/me smells unremoved CSS. large vobs are fine with all of the players mentioned.
