    Is My GPU Faulty?

I have had problems with dvd playback since buiing this computer with the picture being bad, artifacting etc... but Call Of Duty 4 on max settings is fine...I have just reinstalled windows and before the reinstall my 8800 GT would idle at 54 degrees with the default fan speed of 30%, now it gets to 63 idle and right now is at 55 - 56 with the fan at 80%... on idle this is. My Q6600 is also alot hotter at 45ish on idle and before the reinstall it was 30ish... I am using an artic freezer 7 pro on that as well...can anyone help

What is the temperature like of the room you are in? And what is the PC case like - good airflow? Your temps do sound high to me.
Since you talk about a re-install though, could it be a driver-type issue?
Have you tried something like Rivatuner or Speedfan?

    Re: Is My GPU Faulty?

The room is not to warm...comp is making it warmer tho......case has pretty good airflow...2 intake fans...2 exhaust fans...and i have set up profiles with rivatuner.. right now i have it set at 100% for the gpu fan and its idling at 55...i'm sure this isn't right...it seems not matter wot fan speed...80...100...the temp never drops below 55...it just sits there...and my processor is saying its 15 degrees hotter than it was before...is there anyway that a reinstall could upset the temepreture monitor for these components...or something in the bios which could do this?
