ok thanks splash will write it down and give it ago
and Lol at mike, yeah I want to move in with the gf when I get me a job xD
Bit of an update, i dont know if this makes a difference or not.
But, the crashes seem to keep happening at the same time, this is around 2am, they system locks up but doesnt blue screen, it just sits, is quiet for abit, then makes some noise, last night i left it for a few minutes hoping it would pop out of it, but it didnt, it just sat there, so i opened the case to check temps with my hand..didnt seem that hot.
I was wondering if anyone has any idea what it could be, I havent changed the voltages yet but will do soon.
I will re-install direct X next week and see if that helps, also does anyone think putting a fan on the bottom of the case blowing onto the gfx card help? There isnt a vent for it or anything so would this cause an issue?
Does anyone have any ideas of anything and i mean anything that might cause this? its really beginning to get on my tits!
start from the begining set stock cpu vcore, run orthos small ffts stress cpu
read previoues posts mate, all at stock mate..ill run orthos
thanks
Edit: - I have a quad core, how do i get it to run on all four cores?
Results of test

you want Prime95 v255, I said set cpu to stock vcore meaning not auto
ive ran prime95 before with pass results..what is the stcok Vcore? does it actually say stock?
no, you might get it from core temp, 4 core prime 95 how long?
http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/3394/ctfw5.jpg Core Temp thats what its set at in my bios, system just hung again, so checked on way into windows
Ran Prime95 until it said all 4 tests had passed.
My temps are sitting at 51 50 47 and 51 thats about 10 - 15 higher then they normally sit at.
Edit: - Ran prime95 , took 15 minutes for all 4 tests to pass.
Edit 2: - Left prime95 running, passed two tests on each thread, cant run much longer..work tomorrow at 8 :(
Let prime run for a couple of hrs, prime stable, depending on where you research can have varying times of 0-24 hrs, try a couple for now, what you are seeing "test pass" is is just part of a continuous test
It *always* locks at 2am?
Get yourself a linux livecd and boot it. Leave it running that overnight and see if it hangs at 2am. I'm starting to think that this (if indeed it is at bang on 2am every day) is related to a scheduled task, most likely an AV scan.
Did you get round to running a full chkdsk? If so what were the results?
Well that 2am went out of the window when my system froze last night but this time about 23:00 which bugged me.
AV scan is scheduled for wednesday afternoons, so its not that.
I dont see anything in my scheduled tasks section, no I havent got around to the chkdsk, how long does it take?
have you checked event viewer at the time it has broken?
Chkdsk will take as long as it takes, really depends on the size, speed and condition of the disk. You *do* need to do it as part of the troubleshooting though.
