Newbie question on ac adapter fitting into PSU

Well my last PSU blew and sent it to get repaired but the new one i received only has one plug at the back for the power cord. My other power supply (and my brothers) had one for the power cord and one for the ac adapter (albeit attached to a connecter from a speaker which plugs into the PSU). Is there any way around this or do i just need a different PSU / monitor? Or am i just able to plug the power cord directly into the PSU and it'll be able to take the current? (rendering the ac adapter worthless?) - just don't want to try this with the fear of blowing it up lol

Can post pics if anyones confused by my lack of knowledge

    Cheers

    Plug it straight in.

Can't say I've ever seen a regular ATX PSU that needs an AC adaptor. Who made your original PSU?

I'd say post some pictures up - I can only think that your old PC had an external 12v out, which powered your speakers, and your new one doesn't. With pictures I should be able to work out what you need to plug where.

Re: Newbie question on ac adapter fitting into PSU

I would simply run two power cables - much easier and no worries about problems.

so the ac adapter doesn't have to go through the PSU at all?
