    Question s-video to scart=black and white :S

hi, just setup my nice dell inspiron 6400 lappy with a £16 svideo to scart cable tried going through all the different pal settings etc in ati menu on the graphics tab of my x1300 pci-e card and nothing:S
please help. i read that some bodge soldering job could sort it but surely this isn't required otherwise why would the cable be made wrong...
please say theirs a solution i don't want to rip apart a expensive cable and balls it.
its a "wiresist" 3.5mm Stereo PLug + S-Video to Scart Plug that I'm using...

Good riddance. Wish I'd done it about a year ago.

    Re: s-video to scart=black and white :S

check your tv's settings. scart doubles up a few pins, so you need to be certain your tv is looking for scart-svideo not scart-rgb

    Re: s-video to scart=black and white :S

Some TV's just can't take s-video through scart, you could try composite video, that usually works. Cable wise, it usually easier to get an adapter like this and then a normal video cable.

    Re: s-video to scart=black and white :S

Echo directhex - check the TV. S-video is a composite type video signal which separates out the luminance (brightness) and chrominance (colour) signals. The fact that yiou are getting a monochrome signal indicates that the TV isn't detecting the chrominance signal. Check all the options.
