I have a quadcore with 4 gig of ram and 2 DVD drives.
If I have the image or files on the hard drive, then can I make two copies of the cd at the same time?
Would I need specialsoftware or wouldopening Nert twice be a solution?
Suggestions please.

Should be able to without a problem. No idea if Nert will let you have two copies open at the same time though, some apps don't.
Writing multiple discs at once used to be a big deal (hell, burning a single disc used to be a big deal) but with large buffers on modern drives and BURNProof type technologies it takes a lot for burns to fail now.
You could burn to a dozen drives simaltaneously without having to worry.
With SATA there is nothing to even consider, apart from your software package. Nero / Alcohol and all the big names will do it without an issue.
With IDE you need to make sure each writer has its own channel. Sure, you can fit two IDE devices per channel, but IDE can not talk to both devices at once. What you end up with is one writer burning, pausing, the other writing, pausing....etc until its finished. It takes a bloody age and it can hit the write quality in my experience.
