Question getting rid of left-frame internet sponsored links

    Rookie here,

I noticed just a couple of days ago that when I open up the internet, a 1/4 section on the left side of the screen have this "sponsored links" section. How do I get rid of it?????

    Hiya, welcome to hexus

    uninstall adware/malware ridden programs
    run adaware/antispyware scanner
    run virus scanner

failing all of that system restore
if that doesnt work then reinstall windows!

sounds like spyware, try the standard spyware/adware removers to see if that fixes it.

Re: getting rid of left-frame internet sponsored links

and if none of the above works, i.e. no spyware/adware, virus scanners not found anything, are all the scanners up to date?

or the simplest solution, on the toolbar at top of screen click on VIEW then EXPLORER BAR and turn off whatevers selected (works on internet explorer, not sure about firefox). but check for spyware/adware first!

Or if you dont want to (or cant) install any anti-spyware, anti-virus etc, then go to here:
Trend Micro HouseCall - Free Online Virus and Spyware Scan - Trend Micro UK

And follow all onscreen instructions. Be aware though that an infected system can take anything up to a few hours to be scanned & cleaned
