CD Rom freeze

when i insert a cd or other disc into the drive it freezes the system and i have to keep pressing reset to get out of it ,pressing con;t alt del does not free the problem
I have Windows Home xp sp2 igb ram graphic cards 2x 8600gt Nvidia in Sli Mode

Have you installed Nero version INCD4, many people complain of this, may be better deleting it?
Used Windows Update to install all the latest drivers?

i have Nero 6 only, i have noticed however that after the system freezes when i put a disc in ,after i have reset a couple of times ,the system then reverts to normal,until i shut down and then reboot the following day.
